What makes NFco Toothpaste unique?
Unlike many other toothpastes on the market, NFco Toothpaste is free from fluoride and other harsh chemicals. Australian made and containing 70% organic ingredients, the gel formula is designed for the whole family and contains 25% Xylitol – amongst the highest available. Vegan, gluten free and cruelty free, the NFco Toothpaste tube and box are also 100% recyclable.

What is the fluoride content of NFco Toothpaste?
NFco Toothpaste is 100% Fluoride Free. Fluoride only has its effect when applied to the teeth (i.e. when it's in the mouth). If fluoride is ingested, it doesn’t provide any protection against cavities. It does, however, accumulate in the teeth and bones. Too much ingested fluoride is called ‘fluorosis’. It can permanently stain teeth and worse, it’s a poison. We believe that if the teeth are effectively cleaned and diet is good there is little need for fluoride. The choice to use a fluoride toothpaste or not is entirely personal and should be done with as much information as possible.

How can I take care of my NFco toothpaste?
Your NFco toothpaste tube is sealed under the cap for hygiene. Remove the safety seal and then replace the flip-top cap. During normal use, small amounts of crystallized toothpaste may build up on the mouth of the cap.
  • Using a clean damp cloth or wipe, remove all toothpaste residue from around the cap opening.
  • Dry the cap with a clean, dry cloth.
  • Close flip-top lid and store tube upright (cap facing up).
  • Always store oral care products as far away from the toilet area as possible.
It's important to always keep your toothbrush clean, and sterilize the head regularly. When the toothbrush comes into contact with the opening of the toothpaste cap, bacteria etc. can be transferred to the tube.

Sterilzing your NFco Bio Toothbrush
Plaque, as well as the interior of the mouth, contains many micro-organisms. Inevitably, these micro-organisms become trapped between the bristles of your toothbrush. Because your toothbrush is often in a moist environment, bacterial growth can flourish. That's why it's imperative to keep your toothbrush clean and to sterilize it regularly. We recommend replacing toothbrushes every 6-8 weeks and after illness.

To Sterilize:
  • Rinse bristles as outlined previously.
  • Shake off excess water.
  • Place toothbrush in bathroom cup, head down.
  • Pour in enough hydrogen peroxide 3%* to cover head & bristles.
  • Leave for 10 minutes.
  • Rinse bristles under tap.
  • Shake off excess water and store in wash cup as above.

Sterilize once weekly.

Please note: The NFco Bio Toothbrush cannot be sterilised in boiling water or microwave.

*Hydrogen Peroxide 3% is widely available from pharmacies.
About Hydrogen Peroxide: Hydrogen Peroxide 3% has mild and safe antimicrobial properties. It quickly breaks down to water & oxygen. It can also work as a bleach, so care must be taken when handling. As with any product of this nature, open with care and make sure cap is pointing away from body. Hydrogen Peroxide is not to be ingested.
Bio Toothbrush disposal instructions:

1. Break off toothbrush head.

 2. Discard thoughtfully. Check with local recycling programs if suitable (Nylon is recyclable).

 3. Place the rest of the toothbrush into your compost.

Typically takes approximately 1 year to break down into a chalk like stick in a home compost. (90 days to break down in a commercial compost.) Congrats! You have made the right choice - any way you dispose of this, you can be sure that these toothbrushes will not be land-fill for thousands of years to come - unlike many toothbrushes in use today.

How often should I change my toothbrush?
We recommend you replace your toothbrush every 6-8 weeks. Most dentists agree you should change your toothbrush regularly. Studies show that normal wear and tear make toothbrushes much less effective at removing plaque from teeth and gums compared to new ones. The bristles break down and lose their effectiveness in getting to all those tricky corners around your teeth. It is also important to change your toothbrush after you've had a cold, the flu, a mouth infection or a sore throat. This is because germs can hide in toothbrush bristles and lead to reinfection. Even if you haven't been sick, fungus and bacteria can develop in the bristles of your toothbrush —another reason to change your toothbrush regularly.
